J.B. Hunt adds transload service in the West

J.B. Hunt Transport Services announced Wednesday it plans to open its first transload facility on the West Coast. The new service is expected to improve inland intermodal service for its customers.

The company will use a 91,000-square-foot facility with 8 acres of parking, capable of holding 300 containers, to facilitate the service. The site will support drayage and transloading functions at the ports in Los Angeles and Long Beach, California.

J.B. Hunt to expedite delivery of new containers, customer freight

J.B. Hunt Transport Services announced Thursday that it has entered a long-term agreement to expedite the delivery of new intermodal containers as well the freight of its customers. A multivessel agreement with Swire Shipping Pte. is expected to provide an accelerated shipment option for the company’s customers that ship cargo from Asia to the U.S.

J.B. Hunt to expand intermodal container fleet by 40%

J.B. Hunt growing container fleet to 150,000

J.B. Hunt Transport Services announced Wednesday plans to grow its intermodal container fleet to 150,000 units over the next three to five years. The additional capacity would expand the fleet by more than 40% from the close of 2021. J.B. Hunt will also look to place additional chassis in service “based on market need.”

The purchasing plan is part of a joint initiative with BNSF Railway “to substantially improve capacity in the intermodal marketplace.”

J.B. Hunt Transport Services has started a transload service in the New York metro area. In a press release, the offering is touted as “a one-stop source for quickly transferring ocean freight into equipment for domestic transport.” The facility, located in Jersey City, New Jersey, was recently expanded to 25,000 square feet of space, is open 24/7 and includes on-site parking.

Transloading ocean freight is the latest step taken by J.B. Hunt to alleviate bottlenecks

J.B. Hunt Transport Services announced Friday it has started a new transload service in New York amid the nation’s supply chain bottlenecks.

The New York metro area service will provide shippers with port drayage, transloading and linehaul service to inland destinations. The operation will be supported by a facility in Jersey City, New Jersey, which was recently expanded.
