WASHINGTON — Intermodal truck drivers and their companies operating in four U.S. geographical regions may soon have more choices among providers of the chassis they use to haul ocean containers to and from ports and container yards.

Intermodal provider RoadOne acquires dedicated fleet EHS Trucking

RoadOne makes ninth acquisition in last five years.

Intermodal transportation provider RoadOne IntermodaLogistics announced it has acquired dedicated carrier EHS Trucking and affiliate EHS Truck & Trailer.

Located near Detroit, EHS serves automotive original equipment manufacturers like Ford (NYSE: F) and General Motors (NYSE: GM) throughout Michigan, Indiana and Ohio with its 235 drivers and a fleet of more than 200 trucks and 1,000 trailers. California intermodal trucker suing Hapag-Lloyd over detention fees

A California drayage business is suing Germany’s Hapag-Lloyd for allegedly forcing the trucking company to store empty refrigerated containers without getting paid.

According to a complaint filed this week at the Federal Maritime Commission, Long Beach-based Orange Avenue Express (OAE) also asserts that the ocean carrier has so far racked up $258,000 in detention charges against OAE that the trucking company asserts violate federal shipping regulations.
