The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) Board of Directors approved a long-term agreement with terminal operator SSA Marine for the development and operation of a $238.7 million international container terminal at JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal.

JAXPORT announces record Jan container volume

During the 2019 State of the Port event, Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) CEO Eric Green announced that JAXPORT has achieved its best ever January container volumes, with total container movements increasing 16 percent over the same period last year. Crowley’s LNG-fueled ship completes its maiden voyage

JAXPORT to receive funds for harbor deepening

The US Army Corps of Engineers has granted $46 million for the Jacksonville Harbor deep draft navigation project. This will be additional to the $50 million in federal funding awarded to JAXPORT for the project over the past two fiscal years.

Cancer treatment equipment through JAXPORT

Highly trained stevedores recently moved state-of-the-art cancer treatment equipment worth $25 million through JAXPORT’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal.

The proton therapy equipment, which was unloaded in three pieces, is en route to the University of Florida Health Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville where it will be used to provide an advanced form of radiation treatment. JAXPORT recognized 46 veteran employees

On November 8, JAXPORT recognized its 46 veteran employees with a special Veterans Day luncheon served by the port’s executive team. JAXPORT’s senior leadership has served lunch to this group in gratitude for their military service for the past six years.

More than a quarter of JAXPORT’s 152 employees are veterans and they represent all five branches of the military. JAXPORT’s veterans have a combined 522 years of military service.

JAXPORT breaks again its year-record

JAXPORT’s public seaport terminals achieved record growth in container volumes, recording double-digit growth during the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2018.

JAXPORT moved nearly 1.3 million containers, a 23 percent increase over 2017. JAXPORT has set container volume records the past three years.

When combined with the containers handled through private terminals, the Port of Jacksonville is Florida’s largest container port complex.
