General cargo ship sinks off Japan’s coast, nine crew missing

Thirteen crew members were rescued on 25 January from the general cargo ship Jin Tian, which sank in the East China sea, while the other nine seafarers remain missing at the time of writing.

The cargo ship with a carrying capacity of 9,784 tonnes DWT sank some 75 nautical miles south of Jeju island, South Korea, on the morning of 25 January around 02:25 (Seoul time), while it was sailing from Vanimo in Papua New Guinea to Incheon in South Korea.
