2019 container throughput of King Abdullah Port wanes

The volume of import containers handled by the King Abdullah Port in 2019 reached 203,670 TEU compared to 190,005 TEU in 2018, representing an increase of 7.2%. Meanwhile, market conditions led to a 12.2% decline in annual throughput for container handling.

OOCL joins King Abdullah Port’s operators list

Liebherr cranes boost King Abdullah Port’s container capacity

In the largest commercial operation of its kind in the history of KSA, King Abdullah Port has received 28 state-of-the-art Liebherr cranes to start the expansion of the container terminals. The latter was decided through a MoU signed with National Container Terminal on the day the port was officially inaugurated in the presence of the Crown Prince HRH Prince Mohammad bin Salman last February.

The great potential of King Abdullah Port

Saudi Arabia is aspiring to make the King Abdullah Port the largest in the Middle East, Saudi Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Minister Khalid al-Falih said.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to the King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh, al-Falih said he had confidence that the goal would be achieved due to a number of factors which the port enjoys, including its strategic location on the Red Sea.
