HMM starts solo intra-Asia route after ending joint operation with KMTC Line

South Korea’s flagship carrier HMM has backed out of the Korea-Thailand Express (KTX) service which it was codesharing with its compatriot regional carrier Korea Marine Transport Company (KMTC Line).

Primarily an ocean-going shipping company, HMM has announced that it will open an intra-Asia cross network (ICN) service, an independent pendulum (clockwise) route within Asia.

X-Press Feeders joins RCL and KMTC in new Straits service

Singapore-based feeder operator X-Press Feeders is improving its connections between the Straits of Singapore, Vietnam, China and South Korea in collaboration with Regional Container Lines (RCL) and Korea Marine Transport Company (KMTC Line).

Seoul wants more North Europe and SE. Asia capacity

South Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on 30 December that it has asked local liner operators to deploy more ships to North Europe and East Asia-Southeast Asia services.

KMTC Line and KOBC launch Port Klang facility

South Korean feeder operator Korea Marine Transport Company (KMTC Line) and the state-backed finance institution Korea Ocean Business Corporation (KOBC) have jointly launched a container facility in Malaysia’s Port Klang.

The KRW700 million (US$630,000) joint venture, KM Cargo Services, is tapping growing cargoes within Southeast Asia.

TS Lines revamps Asia and Australia services

Feeling bullish about market conditions, Taiwanese intra-Asia shipping specialist TS Lines is increasing capacity on new and existing services.

TS Lines will operate the China India West Coast X-Press (CWX) service with Korea Marine Transport Company (KMTC) and Singapore’s X-Press Feeders.

South Korean liner alliance in dispute with Busan Port Authority

Korea Shipping Partnership (KSP), a quasi-alliance of South Korea’s liner and feeder operators, are seeking arbitration with regard to Busan Port Authority’s request that the carriers bear additional costs of KRW4.6 billion (US$3.76 million) for operating the multi-purpose terminal in Busan New Port for the past year.
