Ishin the First LNG-fueled Tugboat Owned from MOL

On September 28, the TOKYO-Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. announced the launching of the tugboat was named Ishin named after the MOL’s technology development project ‘Ishin Next – MOL Smart Ship Project’.

The vessel built at Kanagawa Dockyard Co., Ltd. is expected to be delivered in February 2019 after the completion of outfitting work, will be the first LNG-fueled tugboat serving Osaka Bay starting in April.

Panama Canal Reaches New Milestone After Four LNG Vessels Transits In One Day

The Panama Canal reaches a new milestone after the successful transit of four liquefied natural gas (LNG) ships with beams of up to 160 feet (49 meters) in a single day through the Neopanamax Locks. With this milestone, the Panama Canal breaks the record set on April 17, 2018, when three LNG vessels transited through the waterway on the same day.

MPA Dishes Out S$26m to Promote LNG Use as Marine Fuel

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has shelled out S$26 million to kick-start the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a cleaner burning marine fuel ahead of green shipping regulation.
