A rookie truck driver was arrested and charged after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found $2.8 million worth of marijuana hidden in a load of pork bound for El Paso, Texas, at the U.S.-Canada border in Detroit on Monday, court documents show.

Marijuana, bongs seized from trucks at US-Canada border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized more than $8 million of marijuana and over 2,000 bongs from commercial trucks in separate incidents at the U.S.-Canada border, the agency said Friday.

The marijuana seizure occurred Thursday at the Peace Bridge, the site of multiple large drug busts involving trucks at the Canada-U.S. border since June.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers discovered more than a half-ton of marijuana during an inspection of a Canadian truck at the U.S. border at the Blue Water Bridge in Michigan on Monday. The pot — manifested as office furniture — was destined for locations in Michigan, CBP said.

The drugs were packed into cardboard boxes loaded onto wooden pallets. Officials did not estimate the value of the marijuana, but estimates from recent border seizures and open-source drug price indexes...

Feds still probing $20 million marijuana shipment after trucker’s release
