Clean Canaveral completes inaugural LNG bunkering

The largest Jones Act LNG bunker barge thus far delivered, the 5,500-cubic-meter Clean Canaveral, has completed its inaugural LNG bunkering in Jacksonville, Fla. The vessel operates with the recently delivered tug Polaris as an articulated tug barge (ATB) unit and is owned by Polaris New Energy LLC, a subsidiary of Seaside LNG Holdings.

The Clean Canaveral then transferred approximately 600 metric tons of LNG to cool-down and bunker the tanker Eagle Brasilia, owned by AET Tankers.

In the latest development in the expansion of the U.S. LNG bunkering infrastructure, Coden, Ala., shipbuilder Master Boat Builders, Inc. has delivered the new 4,000 hp tug Polaris to Polaris New Energy.

McAllister Towing orders two more tractor tugs

New York City headquartered McAllister Towing reports that it has signed a contract for the construction of two 93- by 38-foot tier IV, 84-metric-ton bollard pull, tractor tugs with the option for two more. These tugs will further enhance McAllister’s East Coast fleet with the ability to service its customers largest ships and will bring McAllister’s tractor fleet to 39 tugs with a total of over 182,000 horsepower.
