16 states file suit challenging pause on LNG export permits

Led by Louisiana General Attorney General Liz Murrill, the attorneys general of 16 states have filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Louisiana challenging the pause on pending approvals of LNG export projects announced by the Biden administration in January.

Attorney General Murrill calls that move an “unlawful decision to ban new liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports.”

Environmental groups sue BNSF over grizzly bear deaths

Two environmental groups are suing western U.S. Class I railroad BNSF because its trains allegedly kill grizzly bears on federally protected grounds in Idaho and Montana, violating the Endangered Species Act.

Canadian police move against truck blockade at US-Canada border

Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers have begun an enforcement action targeting a blockade of commercial trucks and other vehicles at the U.S.-Canada border in Coutts, Alberta, that have been protesting COVID-19 restrictions since Saturday. 

RCMP said it took the action after failing to reach an agreement with the protesters, warning that those who remain could face arrest.

“We thought we had a path to resolution. The protesters eventually chose not to comply,” the RCMP said in a statement.

Truckers will face more dangerous winds Thursday across the northern Plains, mainly in Montana.
