DeepOcean has big plans for Island Offshore vessel after major conversion

Mystery solved. Oslo-headquartered subsea specialist DeepOcean is the company taking Island Offshore’s Island Condor on a long-term charter that will commence in the third quarter this year after the vessel emerges from an extensive conversion (see earlier story).

DeepOcean has big plans for the vessel, which will be renamed Island Ocean after its upgrade to a multi-purpose support vessel (MPSV).

Eastern Shipbuilding tapped to complete HOS MPSV duo

Panama City, Fla., headquartered Eastern Shipbuilding Group reports that it has been contracted by Zurich American Insurance Company to complete the construction of two ultra high-spec 400 class Multi-Purpose Support Vessels (MPSVs) for Hornbeck Offshore Services, LLC (HOS).

HOS reported back in October 2023 (see earlier story) that it had reached an agreement that would see the completion of the two MPSVs, which had been at the center of a now-settled lawsuit with Gulf Island Fabrication Inc....

James Fisher signs seasonal charter for advanced Go Electra vessel

Advanced multipurpose vessel

James Fisher, Barrow-in-Furness, U.K., has signed a charter agreement with Australia’s Go Marine Group for the exclusive use of the 79.7- by 16.4-meter DP2 multi-purpose service vessel (MPSV), Go Electra.

The agreement will see the 2011-built vessel used, throughout the remainder of 2022, by Fisher marine group companies James Fisher Renewables (JF Renewables) and James Fisher Subtech (JF Subtech).

Go Electra will be mobilized in and around U.K. waters, largely on unexploded ordnance (UXO)...
