Heavy-lift operator AAL buys two ships and plans to build four more

Specialist heavy lift project carrier, AAL Shipping (AAL) has bought two 33,000 deadweight heavy lift ships and has given an update on its newbuilding plans.

The two newly-bought vessels are, the ‘AAL Mars’ and the ‘AAL Merkur’. The vessels have been serving within AAL’s operating fleet worldwide on a commercial management basis.

Chipolbrok enters the Australia trades; Quay Shipping appointed as agent

Break-bulk, project cargo and heavy lift specialist Chipolbrok will enter the Australia trade, according to Brisbane-based Quay Shipping, which has been appointed as the company’s exclusive agent.

Swire Shipping’s NAX service to run fortnightly

Swire Shipping has announced it will operate its North Asia Express (NAX) service on a fixed-day, fortnightly and 42-day rotation basis, from November 2020.

NAX will offer a direct container service to / from North Asia and Papua New Guinea and Queensland. Transhipment is available via Hong Kong for all other Asian ports and the rest of the world. There will be a nine-day transit from Hong Kong, China, to Lae, Papua New Guinea.

Swire Shipping deploys newbuild multi-purpose ship into regional Pacific trades

A newbuild, eco-friendly, multi-purpose ship with container-capacity has been deployed by Swire Shipping onto the south east Asia / Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands trade.

The Changsha, a 2,400 twenty-foot equivalent unit ship, is part of an eight-strong order of ships from the CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company, that are scheduled for delivery this year.
