Container trailer-truck driver crushed to death at NMPT

The driver of a container trailer-truck was crushed to death after a container hit his cabin while in transit on New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) premises on Wednesday night even as workers alleged negligence by the logistics company and NMPT in leaving the container unlocked on the trailer.

In his complaint to Panambur Police, Yashodhara, a trailer-truck driver, said that he and the deceased, Vinod Poojary (58), worked for Delta Infralogistics, Kulur.

NMPT to focus on container sector

New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) is aiming to handle a traffic of 50 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in the next three-four years, according to Venkata Ramana Akkaraju, Chairman.

Container ship damaged at New Mangalore Port

Mangaluru: Timely intervention of New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) averted a major incident after container ship X-press Brahmaputra sustained damage to her port side hull on Saturday (Nov. 13) morning, while sailing out.
