Heidi Johannessen Paulsrud, Director of Sales and Marketing for Exhaust Gas Cleaning, Wärtsilä

What is a scrubber? How does it work? Heidi Johannessen Paulsrud from Wärtsilä explains the basics around environmental footprint from the ship, for me. The technology has been there for quite some time but since there has not been any incentive to use it it’s only now that the item has surfaced to the top of the agenda in the maritime industry.

Heidi is a chemist, so she explains what happens if we are not reducing the SoX and NoX in the exhaust gas from ships. She also speaks about fuel,...

Infographic: LNG reduces GHG emissions by 21%

SEALNG and SGMF launched a study according to which GHG reductions of up to 21% are achievable now from LNG as a marine fuel, in comparison to the existent oil-based marine fuels over the entire life-cycle from Well-to-Wake (WtW). The study also confirms that emissions from sulphur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM), are close to zero when using LNG compared with current conventional oil-based marine fuels.
