Russia’s NSR shipments grow despite climate warming alerts

It is reported that the cargo shipments passing through the Northern Sea Route (NSR) reached 30 million tonnes in 2019, achieving a major rise in fossil fuel deliveries from one of the most vulnerable environment globally.

Researchers find microplastics along the entire NSR

During an expedition in the Northern Sea Route, Russian researchers discovered microplastics all along the route, marking the first time ever that samples have been taken of microplastic waste along the route.

Two LNG-powered tankers complete NSR passage

Two large-capacity Sovcomflot tankers using cleaner-burning LNG as a primary fuel, Mendeleev Prospect and Lomonosov Prospect, have successfully completed voyages eastbound along the Northern Sea Route (NSR).
