Bilbao, Spain, based H2SITE reports that ammonia cracking is gaining traction for onboard power generation as a means of producing hydrogen for use in PEM fuel cells. The company says that it has now successfully validated the first ammonia cracker to produce high-purity hydrogen for marine PEM fuel cell use. In a pilot, an H2SITE integrated membrane reactor has been installed and operated on board Zumaia Offshore’s offshore supply vessel Bertha B, operating in the Bay of Biscay.

Marcon releases new offshore support vessel report

Nothing is a better indicator of what’s going on in a given sector than what’s happening in the sale and purchase (S&P) market and Coupeville, Wash., shipbroker Marcon International has just released its latest report on the offshore support vessel market.

An incident that began on October 4 with the rescue of 12 people from a vessel that grounded half a mile south of the Cyril E. King airport in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands during Tropical Storm Phillippe, has reached a successful conclusion. The vessel, the 195-foot Vanuatu-flagged RO/RO cargo vessel Bonnie G, originally delivered in 1981 as an OSV, has been refloated and relocated. It is now safely moored at the Crown Bay Sandfill dock in St. Thomas.

NTSB: Why an OSV collided with a Coast Guard buoy tender, twice

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has issued its report into an October 11, 2020, incident in which an offshore supply vessel (OSV) twice collided with a U.S. Coast Guard cutter.

The first collision occurred near Texas Point, Texas, when the OSV Cheramie Bo-Truc No. 33 collided with the Harry Claiborne, a 175-foot coastal buoy tender, when traveling outboard for sea in the Sabine Pass.

4 seafarers were caught in a fire in an offshore ship near Mumbai and 3 of them have died a brutal death in the process.

Fire Damages Offshore Supply Ship

An offshore supply vessel, which was engulfed by fire from the engine room, managed to extinguish the outbreak by its own means, reports Maritime Bulletin.

What happened?

Offshore supply ship WILSON ARCTIC suffered fire in the engine room. The fire started at around 1300 UTC Jul 6 in the North sea, N of Domburg, Zeeland, Netherlands. 

The ship was en route from Vlissingen to BORSELLE2 (offshore wind farm).
