Severe Oil Leak from Containership, Crack in Hull

Three Quarters of Bunker Fuel Stock Extracted from Grounded Bulker

  • Almost all of the remaining bunker fuel on board the bulk carrier that ran aground in Mauritius last month has now been pumped off the vessel, according to its owner.

  • The 2016-built VLOC Stellar Banner, owned by South Korea’s Polaris Shipping, has run aground off the Brazilian coast after leaving Vale’s Ponta da Madeira Maritime Terminal in the state of Maranhao, on February 27.
