US Authorities Stops a Tanker Loaded With Russia’s Oil Products Headed to New Orleans

US authorities prevented a ship loaded with Russia’s oil products from reaching Louisiana, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

The ship had set sail in early June from Russia’s Taman peninsula and intended to reach New Orleans on Sunday, per the Journal.

But authorities did not allow the tanker to discharge cargo, labelled as brought from Russia. The ship is being checked by the US Customs and Border Protection.

Two Indian Crew Of Foreign Oil Tanker Die At Chattogram Port

Two crew members of a Danish oil tanker passed away after they had inhaled toxic gas as they were working in the vessel at the Chattogram port on Saturday.

The deceased are Indians and have been identified as Akhil Shekhar, 26, and Jishnu Raj, 29. Both are from Kerala.

The Chattogram port Secretary, Md Omar Faruq said that Akhil and Jishnu had fallen ill on entering the cargo tank of MD Nord Magic, an oil tanker.

Iran’s Navy has thwarted a potential “pirate attack” on an oil tanker that had set sail for the Gulf of Aden. Four boats that had six pirates on each were on their way to hijack the tanker that had set sail toward the strait of Bab-el Mandeb.
