Denmark will ban scrubber water discharges

The Danish Ministry of the Environment said today that, from July 1, 2025, the discharge of exhaust gas scrubber water from ships will be prohibited in waters up to 22 kilometers (about 12 nautical miles) off the Danish coast. The ban has widespread Danish parliamentary support from across the political spectrum and will be implemented in an amendment to current legislation set to be enacted in the coming parliamentary year.

HMM Takes Delivery of Second 16,000 TEU Containership

Hyundai Heavy Industries hosted a naming ceremony for the 16,000 TEU container ship HMM Gaon, at its headquarters in Ulsan on March 22, reports Offshore Energy.

SCA Sheds Light on the Open Loop Scrubber Confusion

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has clarified its position on the use of open-loop scrubbers whilst transiting the waterway to comply with the new IMO 2020 regulation, reports the Loadstar.
