Coast Guard ends search for tanker crew member

The U.S. Coast Guard has ended its search for a missing tanker crewman who was reported overboard off the coast of North Carolina.

The Coast Guard said Friday evening that aircrews aboard HC-130 Hercules aircraft had flown 22 sorties for a combined period of 45 hours over a search area of about 4,000 square miles.

The U.S. Coast Guard said Wednesday afternoon that it was searching for a crew member of a tanker ship about 400 miles off the coast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.

Forty containers fall off APL England

Face masks are among the medical supplies washing up on Australian shores following the overboard loss of about 40 containers from the APL England.

AMSA updates requirements for passenger safety

In response to recent fatal and serious incidents involving missing passengers, AMSA has clarified and strengthened requirements for monitoring and counting passengers and managing missing passenger situations, in order to improve overall passenger safety.

Crew overboard fatality linked to alcohol

The Hong Kong Marine Department issued a merchant shipping information note to share lessons learned of a man overboard fatality involving a Hong Kong-registered bulk carrier. The deceased was under the influence of alcohol when he went overboard.

The Australian transportation Safety Bureau (ATSB) announced that the investigation into the loss of containers overboard from YM Efficiency, off Newcastle, on 1st June 2018, is continuing.
