Adani to boost Mundra port capacity by 800,000 TEUs amid steady volume growth

The Adani Group is set to open a new container terminal at Mundra Port at the end of this year, as major carriers add new calls out of the emerging economy.

“Cognizant of growing demands, Mundra Port is expanding its infrastructure,” said the company, adding that “a new berth, T3, with capacity of 800,000 TEUs is set to be commissioned in the third quarter [October-December] of the fiscal year 2023-24.”

India’s Mundra port berths MSC giant container ship

Mundra Port, the flagship port of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), berthed the 399 metres long and 54 metres wide vessel, MSC Hamburg.

The 2015-built container ship was anchored at the Indian port on 2 July 2023.

MSC Hamburg has a carrying capacity of 15,908 TEUs and its current draught is reported to be 12 meters.

Meanwhile, the port of Mundra has resumed all its services after the temporary suspension of operations ordered by the government due to Cyclone Biparjoy.

India ponders over giving Bangladesh access to west coast ports
