Seattle port operator tackles congestion with new container storage fee

SSA Marine has notified importers at its Seattle port facilities that it will introduce an additional storage charge on Wednesday for containers lingering longer than five days in an effort to clear space so stevedores can better service vessels and reduce cargo delays.

Container volume growth at NWSA continues despite exports fall

The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) has reported volume growth for another month, handling a total of 313,430TEU in October and reflecting an increase of 5.6% compared to the same month of the previous year.

This number brings year-to-date volumes to more than 3.1 million TEU, which translates to a growth of almost 15% year-on-year.
