JAXPORT sets container and auto records

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) has achieved a record number of container and auto moves during the first three quarters of fiscal year 2019. During this time, JAXPORT moved nearly one million containers, a six percent increase over the same period last year. The port also moved nearly 535,000 auto units in this period, an increase of seven percent over the same time in FY18. JAXPORT’s fiscal year runs Oct. 1 – Sept. 30.

SC Ports reports record cargo volumes

South Carolina Ports Authority handled record cargo volumes at the Port of Charleston in fiscal year 2019.

SCPA handled nearly 2.4 million twenty-foot equivalent container units (TEUs) from July 2018 through June, an 8.8% increase in annual TEU container volume.

SCPA moved 200,406 TEUs across the Wando Welch and North Charleston container terminals last month.

MSC Katya R. sets record as largest container ship to boost Costa Rican export links to Europe

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is improving trade links between Costa Rica and northern Europe by adding a new direct call from the Port of Moin.

Baltimore smashes several records in March

The state-owned public marine terminals at the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore set several new records in March, including new monthly standards for cargo tonnage and number of containers.

Suez Canal marks its second-highest ever record

Head of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish said that the canal recorded on Wednesday, May 22, its second-highest record of daily tonnage in its history. According to Mamish, 68 ships crossed the canal in both directions carrying a total load of 5.5 million tons.

With the maiden call of ms OOCL United Kingdom at Cosco Shipping Ports Terminal Zeebrugge early in the morning of May 18, a new record was set in the port of Zeebrugge.

Georgia Ports’ record April boosts FY totals

GPA Executive Director Griff Lynch reported the Port of Savannah had its busiest April ever, pushing its fiscal year-to-date totals to 3.7 million TEUs, an increase of 8.7 percent (300,815 TEUs) compared to the same period in FY2018.

Panamal Canal welcomes largest-ever boxship

A new record of containers shipped on a vessel transiting the Panama Canal since the expanded locks were opened in June 2016 was set on Wednesday, May 15.

Best ever April at Port of Long Beach

Cargo volumes handled in April at the Port of Long Beach eclipsed a record set 13 years ago.

Dockworkers at marine terminals moved 628,121 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in April. The previous high was 619,512 TEUs in April 2006. Imports in April 2019 rose 1.8% to 317,883 TEUs compared to last year. Exports decreased 12.7% to 123,804 TEUs, while empties rose 13.5% to 186,435 TEUs.
