Royal Caribbean International celebrated the homecoming of the world’s largest cruise ship with the naming ceremony of Symphony of the Seas, the 25th ship in the global cruise line’s impressive fleet. Watch: Azipods installation on Spectrum of the Seas

Royal Caribbean published a video, depicting ‘Spectrum of the Seas’ having its azipods installed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Each Azipod is 200 tons and takes 1.5 days to install.

A 400-ton low loader is positioning the azipods underneath the ship.

The azipods can provide ‘Spectrum of the Seas’ with 41 megawatts of propulsion power, while the ship’s propellers will be attached to the azipods in February, completing the propulsion system.

Royal Caribbean International Awarded ‘Best Cruise Operator’ For 10th Consecutive Year

Royal Caribbean International has sailed to a new milestone with its induction into TTG Travel Awards’ Travel Hall of Fame, after winning the “Best Cruise Operator” Award for 10 consecutive years starting back in 2008.

Royal Caribbean to reduce its emissions with wind facility

Royal Caribbean Cruises signed an agreement with energy provider Southern Power, for Southern Power’s 200-megawatt (MW) Reading Wind Facility. This initiative aims to reduce up to 12% of Royal Caribbean’s emissions beginning in 2020.

This wind facility is located in Osage and Lyon Counties, Kansas.

The facility is expected to generate about 760,000 megawatt hours per year over 12 years, which means enough clean energy to reduce 10-12% of Royal Caribbean’s annual carbon emissions starting in 2020.
