Boom in Containership Charter Rates Dwindles Due To Slow Season

  • Average daily charter hire rates had soared by 40% since January, while during the same period SCFI slumped by 25%.
  • 51 container vessels undergoing retrofitting in shipyards around the world will be back in service by December.

Container Spot Rates Tumble Lowering the SCFI Index

Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) saw container spot rates tumble across the board on September 20, reports The Loadstar.

This resulted in the SCFI comprehensive index losing a further 4.1% points to 734, which is some 18% below the level of a year ago.
