A self-propelled, scrubber barge vessel being built to to capture and treat exhaust stack emissions vessels in the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles is to have a Schottel propulsion system. Schottel and Lyon Shipyard partner up for offshore wind

Many of the specialist Jones Act vessels that will be built for the U.S. offshore wind industry will have Schottel propulsion systems.

These vessels will also require periodic drydocking, maintenance and thruster overhauls. In response, Spay, Germany headquartered Schottel and Norfolk, Va.-based Lyon Shipyard have reached an agreement, based on their shared long-term strategy, to support both the existing market and the up-and-coming offshore wind farm industry.

Peruvian tug operator opts for Schottel mechanical hybrid solution

A tugboat on order at Cheoy Lee Shipyards in Hong Kong for PSA Marine Peru will be equipped with Schottel RudderPropellers featuring the patented Sydrive-M technology.
