Global wine company to establish US$423 million operation near Charleston

E. & J. Gallo Winery (Gallo), a global wine and spirits company, has revealed its plans to build a production facility and distribution centre in Chester County in South Carolina near the Port of Charleston.

Construction is set to begin soon with the first phase of the project on track to be completed in October 2022. The investment is expected to cost US$423 million and will create approximately 500 new job positions over the next eight years, according to a statement.

South Carolina Ports (SC Ports) has announced a record May for container movement in the Port of Charleston, marking the third consecutive month of record volumes.

Walmart launches construction on South Carolina distribution centre

The American multinational retail corporation, Walmart has started construction on its more than 900,000m2 Walmart Ridgeville Import Distribution Center in Dorchester County, South Carolina.

Walmart is investing US$220 million to build the direct import distribution centre, which is expected to increase volumes at the Port of Charleston by 5%, according to a statement.

South Carolina expects to inaugurate first US container terminal since 2009

The new Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal of South Carolina Ports (SC Ports) is expected to be operational by March 2021, according to the latest announcement.

Corvus to equip new SCPA RTG cranes

South Carolina Ports Authority has seen strong volumes in the first four months of fiscal year 2020 with growth in both containerized and vehicle cargo.
