The IMO Intersessional Working Group meeting of July 2018 has started to develop a set of guidelines on the consistent implementation of regulation 14.1.3 of MARPOL Annex VI for the use by administrations, port state control authorities, ship owners, ship operators, and fuel oil providers. Ahead of IMO’s implementation of a tougher sulphur cap on bunker fuel from 2020, the oil trader ‘Trafigura’ has merged its fuel oil and gas oil trading desks.

The head position has been awarded to Mr.Joshua Grizzle to lead the new combined team, while Ms.Seetal Patel has taken a new senior role within the oil and oil products trading division. Both of the services are based in Geneva and this combined move is expected to better their services.

In a major development, Exxon Mobil has  started operationsat a new unit in their 366K bbl/day integrated Beaumont, Tex., facility in order to increase the production of ultra-low sulfur fuels by 45K bbl/day.
