World Oceans Day offers a reminder about the plastic problem

The Ocean Cleanup continues efforts to rid the ocean of plastic.

Discarded plastic that winds up in oceans traps marine animals, pollutes waters, breaks down into microplastics and can end up on the dinner plates of seafood lovers. 

Maybe you heard the World Economic Forum’s dire prediction: There will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by weight by 2050. Aluminum-air battery innovator wins spot in Yara Marine X program

Yara Marine X accelerator program chose Phoenician Energy for its aluminum-air battery innovations.

Phoenician Energy’s aluminum-air batteries won a place in Yara Marine X’s accelerator program for startups working for greener shipping, Yara Marine X announced recently. 

Yara Marine Technologies is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, and has offices in Sweden, China and Singapore. The company’s goal since being founded in 2010 is to enable a greener maritime industry through technology such as high-quality scrubber systems.

SSI releases guidelines for sustainable shipping

The Sustainable Shipping Initiative (SSI) is helping chart the course for a maritime industry that is “very slow to change.”
