M&A radar: Toll is the new UTi for DSV – still not interested, Mr Andersen?

Many have argued in the past year and even more so recently, that if DSV had known then what it knows now about the books at Panalpina (PAN) – due diligence was somewhat scant, as DSV fairly conceded in the early days of the integration – it would have probably looked elsewhere, anywhere, in order to strike a multi-billion dollar deal.

Toll Group resists ransom demands from hackers after cyber attack

Toll Group is having a tough year, and has confirmed that the “unusual activity” on its servers last week was a cyber attack, which has now led to ransom demands.
The threat – unrelated to the attack on Toll in January – involves ransomware called Nefilim.
The hackers accessed a corporate server containing information on Toll staff and some commercial agreements with enterprise customers, although Toll said the server was not “designed as …

Supply chain radar: Targeting Toll Group – it’s the Stone Age over again, damn it!

I’ve been busy over the last few days digesting the feedback from trusted Toll Group insiders to understand how precarious the situation is at the Australian logistics firm following the latest ransomware hacking. Lucky me.
The good news first: three months after the first cyber attack “the company is definitely more prepared this time round, in terms of their response. More structured,” one source, Mr Gloom, noted.
If that is encouraging, it’s …

Supply chain radar: Broken Toll Group looking terminal

Australia’s Toll Group is on life support.
And if it wasn’t for its parent, Japan Post, we could well treat it as a business purely valued at liquidation – that’s the very simple takeaway embedded in its latest audited financials, which I got hold of only recently after banging my head against a wall for weeks.
Before we discuss at length the synergies between the Japanese parent and its Australian subsidiary – …
