Help operators to carry out crew changes, governments are urged

Global transport bodies have called on governments to urgently help the changeover of on-signing and off-signing crews on commercial cargo vessels.

New measures to seal off borders to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus have left cruise ships stranded in the Caribbean, South America and Europe.
The measures include local governments denying permission to disembark as more cases of infected passengers have come to light.
The industry body Cruise Lines International Association Australasia said it was working with federal and state governments as cruising lines brought their vessels back to port.
