Over 1,300 layoffs hit logistics companies across US

Layoffs continue across the freight and logistics industry, with companies in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan and Texas announcing job reductions and facility closures over the past two weeks.

Trucking firm clash with drivers’ union heats up and spreads into LA port

A confrontation between truck drivers and Universal Logistics, one of the largest trucking firms in southern California, has spilled into the port of Los Angeles.

NLRB files action against Universal Logistics over Teamsters vote fallout at SoCal facility

Several subsidiaries of Universal Logistics (NASDAQ: ULH) are the target of a complaint filed by the National Labor Relations Board against some of Universal’s activities in California, as the board has rounded up a series of earlier charges filed by the Teamsters into one action.

Some of the complaints filed by the Teamsters go back as far as 2019. That was the year workers at  the Compton facility of Universal Logistics voted to be represented by the Teamsters.

Universal Logistics rebounds after pandemic-related earnings decline

Universal Logistics Holdings’ (NASDAQ: ULH) earnings bounced back in the third quarter after pandemic-induced lows during the prior three-month period. 

The Warren, Michigan-based truckload and logistics company’s net income rose to $13.6 million for the third quarter and earnings per share of 50 cents. Second-quarter net income was $6.2 million, down 69% from the same period last year, and 23 cents per share.

Universal Logistics reports better-than-expected Q3 revenue

Universal Logistics Holdings (NASDAQ: ULH) released its third-quarter financial results Thursday afternoon, reporting revenue of $365 million and earnings per share of 50 cents. 

The quarterly results were in line with Wall Street expectations, with most analysts predicting earnings of 50 cents per share and revenue of $327 million.
