USS Porter Heads to Black Sea For Second Patrol This Year

Destroyer USS Porter (DDG-78) began its transit to the Black Sea today, the third time this year a U.S. Navy ship has patrolled there.

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer also visited the Black Sea in April, and USS Ross (DDG-71) visited in January.

Guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG-78) is operating in the Black Sea as part of the Navy’s ongoing presence operation in the region, Turkey-based ship spotters posted on social media on Saturday.

Guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG-78) left the Black Sea after an eight-day patrol and visits to Romania and Bulgaria.

The forward-deployed Porter crossed the Bosphorus heading toward the Mediterranean Sea on Friday, according to photos posted by Turkish ship spotters on social media.
