Marine Society launches new “green skills” bursary

Marine Society has announced the launch of their latest bursary scheme – the Marine Society Green Skills Bursary.

The bursary is aimed at seafarers who are looking to obtain qualifications that will equip them to work in the offshore and renewable sector.

Marine Society believes that supporting skills transition training in this priority sector is vital as a growing number of seafarers are retraining to work in roles to support offshore wind farms.

“The offshore energy transition is a topic that...

C.H. Robinson still charging ahead after 654% growth in renewables business

C.H. Robinson explains logistics challenges with renewable energy parts.

It’s impressive to see a truck transporting a massive wind turbine blade on the highway. But it only hints at the complex logistics involved in ensuring every part of the turbine reaches the construction site, and the appropriate number of workers arrive at the site each day.

Cheaper renewable energy, increasing tax incentives, sustainability commitments from utility companies and other businesses, and the Paris Agreement climate goals are all driving the adoption of renewable energy.

However,...

Mammoet converts CC2800-1 to narrow track in Brazilian fleet

Mammoet converts CC2800-1 to narrow track in Brazilian fleet

Mammoet’s newly converted CC2800-1 NT.

Specialized crane will help tackle needs of growing wind market

Many wind farms in several countries, including Brazil, have narrow internal roads of 6-7 meters wide. This restricts the use of conventional crawler cranes, as conventional machines are severely restricted relocating between turbines. The narrow track cranes can crawl in between turbines with no or partial disassembly, ultimately...
