WinGD Launches New ‘Eco-Engines’ for Low Carbon Shipping

  • Engine technology company WinGD has launched a new dual fuel engine technology iCER to reduce methane slip, and other improvements for better combustion control.
  • The company sees the engine as a way for companies to maintain flexibility as new fuels come into operation.
  • The engine reduces the reactivity of the gas-air mixture by replacing oxygen in the suction air by CO2.
  • The iCER system is replacing oxygen in the combustion with CO2 by default.

Wärtsilä Bags Optimised Maintenance Agreement for 2 LNGCs

  • Wärtsilä has been awarded an optimised maintenance agreement covering the main engines for two new, ultra-modern LNG carriers managed by Thenamaris LNG Inc.
  • The vessels are powered by low pressure, dual-fuel main engines, and were built at the HHI shipyard in South Korea.
  • Wärtsilä will enable remote support with condition monitoring systems including Expert Insight, Wärtsilä’s unique digital predictive maintenance product, which is now capable of supporting both two and four-stroke engines.
