Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd, and Jeremy Nixon, CEO of ONE, have been elected co-chairs of the board of directors of the World Shipping Council (WSC).

CNC Line and X-Press Feeders in mutual slot purchases

CMA CGM’s intra-Asia arm Cheng Lie Navigation (CNC Line) and Singapore-based feeder operator X-Press Feeders have entered into a mutual slot exchange on their respective South Korea-Japan services, in order to offer better coverage of the route. The arrangement began in early November 2020.

TS Lines revamps Asia and Australia services

Feeling bullish about market conditions, Taiwanese intra-Asia shipping specialist TS Lines is increasing capacity on new and existing services.

TS Lines will operate the China India West Coast X-Press (CWX) service with Korea Marine Transport Company (KMTC) and Singapore’s X-Press Feeders.

Beginning 26 October, six ships will operate the CWX service with capacities ranging from 4,200 to 5,000TEU, with X-Press Feeders deploying four ships and KMTC and TS Lines each contributing one vessel.

Indian Coast Guard addresses boxship fire eruption

The Indian Coast Guard has contained a fire that broke out on X-Press Godavari container ship at anchorage near Sandheads, 100km south of Haldia Port, on the morning of 28 September.

Unconfirmed reports say that the fire was caused by misdeclared or poorly packed containers, as the coast guard was alerted to the fire that had broken out in one container on the anchored 917TEU boxship.
