Hutchison Ports Pakistan has signed a contract with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) for an extensive package of container handling equipment for its newest Karachi terminal. This includes the purchase of eight new cabinless remote-controlled quayside gantry cranes and 24 remote-controlled rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes. On delivery of this new equipment, the Hutchison Ports Pakistan terminal will be equipped with a total of 16 remote-controlled quayside cranes and 53 RTGs.
