Regretfully, Capesize bulk carrier WAKASHIO, which ran aground on the reefs off Pointe Desny, southeast Mauritius, at around 1600 UTC Jul 25, broke in two, understood on Aug 15, notwithstanding salvage attempts. The bigger, fore, half of the ship is to be towed away or is already under tow, destination unknown. Aft part with superstructure, engine room and fuel tanks, remains on the reefs, posing none or minimal pollution threat, because all fuel was siphoned out during salvage operation. There...
