ReCAAP Reports a 38% Spike in Armed Robbery and Piracy This Year

The total number of piracy incidents reported during January-August 2020 has increased compared to January-August 2019.
This was due to the increase of incidents in Bangladesh, India, the Philippines, South China Sea and Singapore Strait during January-August 2020.
The situation in the Singapore Strait continues to be a concern with the occurrence of 21 incidents during January-August 2020.
