Hamburg port logs growth in seaborne cargo handling

Germany’s Port of Hamburg has recorded a 2.9% rise in seaborne cargo throughput, reaching 95.8 million tonnes in the initial nine months of 2021.

However, the port cautioned that international transport chains would continue to be unstable for the rest of the year, with global container ports experiencing disruptions amid the continuing Covid-19 pandemic.

The port’s bulk cargo amount was 29.7 million tonnes, an increase of 6.1% compared to the same period last year.
