NYK Line gets ClassNK’s AiP for ammonia bunkering vessel

Nippon Yūsen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) Line has secured approval in principle (AiP) from Japanese ship classification society ClassNK for an ammonia bunkering vessel (ABV).

The shipping firm is claimed to be the first in Japan to independently receive AiP for an ABV from ClassNK.

The company aims to lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in its oceangoing shipping business and has set a 2050 target for net-zero emissions.
