An unopened bundle of love letters meant for French sailors was found in the British Naval Archives, revealing details of 18th-century family and marital life.
A stash of more than a hundred letters, which are over 260 years old, was found in Kew by Renaud Morieus, Professor of European History at Cambridge University, who the archivists permitted to open the letters and read them for the first time.
