German rail volumes soar 86pc over a period of 17 years

RAIL-BASED container transport in Germany has increased by approximately 85.9 per cent from just under 4.2 million TEU to around 7.7 million TEU between 2005 and 2022, reports London’s Port Technology. The Port of Hamburg announced the results following research carried out by the German Federal Logistics and Mobility Office (BALM) to analyze container transport evolution by water and rail.
