Boeing quality issue delays Alaska Airlines’ converted freighters

Unspecified problems with two used aircraft that recently were converted by Boeing to carry cargo have forced Alaska Airlines to open a new freighter service to Los Angeles with smaller Boeing 737-700s from its existing fleet.

The service is designed to streamline Alaska’s supply chain since many of the groceries, household goods and medicine shipped into the state come from Southern California. It is the first time Alaska Airlines’ freighters have flown beyond Alaska and Seattle.

Amazon airline ASL orders more Boeing 737-800 converted freighters

A white cargo jet with curved wing tips and blue tail comes in for landing with wheels down on approach. ASL Airlines just ordered 10-to-20 aircraft converted to carry cargo.

ASL Aviation Holdings on Thursday said it placed an order with Boeing to convert up to 20 used 737-800 passenger aircraft to carry freight, doubling down on a fleet modernization strategy to support the growth of customers such as Amazon, FedEx and DHL.

The agreement is for 10 firm orders and options for 10 additional 737-800s. If the Dublin-based aviation services company exercises all purchase rights, it will eventually operate 40 of the narrowbody converted freighters from Boeing. The new...

AEI receives large order for 737-800 converted freighters

A contract from Aero Capital Solutions to convert 10 Boeing 787-800 aircraft into freighters represents the largest single order ever for Aeronautical Engineering Inc.

The Miami-based aerospace engineering firm, which designs modification plans and kits, is now scheduled to do 14 conversions for Aero Capital, after the aircraft lessor in Austin, Texas, in October booked four conversion slots for the 737-800. It is the first time the leasing company has participated in the cargo market.
