Maersk to deploy first large methanol-enabled ship on Asia – Europe trade lane

Maersk will launch the first of its 18 large methanol-enabled vessels currently on order, deploying it on the AE7 service string connecting Asia and Europe.

On 9 February 2024, the ship will enter service on the AE7 string, which includes port calls in Shanghai, Tanjung Pelepas, Colombo and Hamburg with Ningbo being its first destination.

Maersk successfully undertakes its first multimodal Sea-Air solution via Oman

Maersk in collaboration with Port of Salalah and Oman Airports, undertook a Sea-Air logistics solution via Oman for cargo moving from Colombo, Sri Lanka, to Cairo, Egypt.

More specifically, the pilot cargo movement on the Sea-Air solution is a shipment of retail and lifestyle cargo from Colombo in Sri Lanka to Cairo in Egypt.

Maersk to use over 500 electric vehicles in India

A.P. Moller – Maersk has recently tied up with a large e-Commerce platform in India to support its distribution requirements with a dedicated fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) that range in the capacity of 550 to 700 Kgs with a driving range of over 120 km.

Over 200 electric vehicles have already been deployed across 15 cities, and more than 300 EVs will be deployed in the next two months to another 11 cities across India for the e-Commerce platform, according to Maersk’s statement.
