Ocean shipping line, ANL, is acting to protect marine biodiversity. Its coral reef nursery is on track to produce up to 3,000 coral fragments in its first year.

Coral reefs have the highest biodiversity of any ecosystem on the planet. They occupy less than 1% of the ocean floor yet are home to more than 25% of marine life – playing a critical role in maintaining stability in a coastal zone.

Against the odds: On the waterfront

Don’t be silly, of course, the shipping lines are not a cartel.
And then the central governments and the stevedores are the nice guys in our supply chain plot, fully supportive of a shipper’s business.
Although this is a really Australian-centric story, the narrative is strikingly similar all around the world. Hint: I can feel a shipping line congestion charge coming on, just in time for the American summer…

Far East-Australia demand pushes rates to levels not seen for a decade

Container freight rates from East Asia to Australia have reached a 10-year high, rising to over US$1,648/TEU as of 9 October 2020, according to the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index.

Container movements along the route have rebounded as Australia seeks to gradually reopen its economy after a series of Covid-19-related lockdowns. Transhipments from Australia and from other regions have also been rising.

This has spurred liner operators, including ZIM and MSC to add more capacity to the route,...

As CMA CGM’s IT engineers continue, for the fifth day, to try to restore its systems following a cyber-attack at the weekend, the French carrier has come under mounting criticism from customers that its back-up booking process is inadequate.
Yesterday, the carrier said its “back-offices [shared services centres] are gradually being reconnected to the network, thus improving bookings and documentation processing times”.
And it reiterated that bookings could still be made through …
