CMA CGM and Maersk US flag carriers enter into slot exchange deals

CMA CGM’s shipping specialist serving the US Government, APL, and Maersk’s counterpart, Maersk Line Limited, have entered into a new slot exchange partnership across several trade routes.

In particular, Maersk will take 80 eastbound TEUs and 130 westbound TEUs on APL’s Transpacific and fully US-flagged EX1 service, while APL will secure 80 eastbound and 20 westbound slots on Maersk’s Indian Subcontinent – US East Coast (MECL) service.

CMA CGM, Maersk and COSCO vie for Transpacific dominance

CMA CGM, Maersk, and COSCO Shipping Lines are competing for the market lead in the Transpacific trade, according to Alphaliner.

CMA CGM has regained the position of market leader from Maersk, which was number one in November 2023. At the time, the Danish carrier had several extra loader services deployed in the trade. Maersk’s market share is now slightly lower at 13.1%, while its French competitor has 13.2%. COSCO follows a close third with 12.9%.

Bollinger Mississippi gets $69.6M Navy APL contract

Bollinger Mississippi Shipbuilding LLC, Pascagoula, Miss. has been awarded a $69,607,000 firm fixed-price modification to previously-awarded contract (N00024-18-C-2230) for detail design and construction of an Auxiliary Personnel Lighter – Small. Adani CMA Mundra Terminal Pvt Ltd (ACMTPL) a joint venture between Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd and CMA Terminals at Mundra, berthed APL Raffles, making it the largest container vessel to call India. APL Raffles is one of the largest vessels in the fleet of CMA CGM. Built in 2013, this 176727 DWT, 17292 TEUs capacity vessel is 397.88 meter long and 51 meter wide. Maersk, CMA CGM, ONE and Wan Hai vessels robbed in Manila

Container ships, operated by CMA CGM and Ocean Network Express (ONE) were robbed or burglarised while at anchorage in Manila in the first two weeks of August.

The crew members were threatened with knives and guns, and the robbers made off with items from the ships.
