Gibraltar Stockholdings (TGS), a specialist distributor of Toyota vehicles and spare parts for humanitarian agencies, has extended its business with APM Terminals to ensure the safe and just-in-time arrival of Toyota vehicles at their destination.

This is an expansion of the service provided by Maersk, the owner of APM Terminals, and the result of experience at APM Terminals Algeciras in Spain, where the team has stuffed containers and loaded an average of 3,000 cars a year since 2004.

APM Terminals Algeciras sets new productivity record

APM Terminals Algeciras completed operations on the vessel Mayview Maersk with a Productive Moves Per Hour (PMPH) of 201.63, breaking the terminal’s previous record of 200 PMPH.

New RTG cranes commence operations at APM Terminals Algeciras

APM Terminals Algeciras has announced that 12 new Konecranes Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes will start operations in the coming weeks, while the machines arrived at the terminal last July for assembly.

“Entry into operation of the new cranes will result in a leap in quality for yard operations, both at a technical and safety level, and also in terms of ergonomics and support for operators,” said José Miguel Carreño, head of asset maintenance at APM Terminals Algeciras.

Potential strike at APM Terminals Algeciras

Unions and social stakeholders threaten to strike in Algeciras and APM Terminals Algeciras management team is working to reach an agreement with them, according to AP Moller Maersk’s announcement.

APM Terminals Algeciras sets new record

APM Terminals Algeciras hits a new Port Moves Per Hour (PMPH) record for a vessel berthed at Juan Carlos I berth. On Monday, 25th of March, 187,82  PMPH were registered on MSC Kalina.
