The Arkansas House of Representatives and Senate are debating two bills to enact harsher punishments against truck drivers who are in the U.S. illegally and obtain or use commercial drivers licenses.

Arkansas House Bill 1569 (HB1569), filed in February, calls for commercial motor vehicle drivers operating in the state to “demonstrate proficiency in the English language.”

16 states file suit challenging pause on LNG export permits

Led by Louisiana General Attorney General Liz Murrill, the attorneys general of 16 states have filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Louisiana challenging the pause on pending approvals of LNG export projects announced by the Biden administration in January.

Attorney General Murrill calls that move an “unlawful decision to ban new liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports.”

Walmart and DroneUp expanding drone delivery to 6 states, 4 million people

Millions of Americans will have access to drone delivery this year thanks to a major expansion of the service Walmart launched in partnership with DroneUp.

Gatik and Walmart to expand autonomous truck partnership to Kansas

Just five days after Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly signed into law a bill approving driverless vehicles, Gatik and Walmart announced on Thursday plans to deploy autonomous trucks in the state.

Kelly signed Senate Bill 313 into law last Friday. It had passed the Kansas House on a 75-44 vote and the Senate 23-17. The law was backed by both Gatik and Walmart (NYSE: WMT). Kansas is the 25th state to pass legislation that enables fully autonomous vehicles to operate on public roads.

USA Truck sees sustained growth amid uncertain market forces

USA Truck Inc. posted its seventh consecutive quarter of record earnings Thursday and expects 2022 to be another record year, said James Reed, president and CEO.

The truckload carrier posted adjusted earnings per share of $1.48 during the first quarter, beating analysts’ estimate of 76 cents per share.
