Navy awards GD NASSCO a double DDG repair contract

General Dynamics NASSCO reports that it has been awarded a U.S. Navy contract for the maintenance, modernization and repair of two Arleigh Burke class destroyers, USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) and USS James E. Williams (DDG 95). The contract, for an initial $15.6 million, includes options that, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value to $753.8 million.

BAE San Diego awarded $19.9 million for PSA of first Flight III DDG

NAVSEA has awarded BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair Inc., San Diego, Calif., a $19,962,606 cost-plus-award-fee modification to exercise an option in a previously awarded contract for the accomplishment of a post shakedown availability (PSA) as well as procurement of additional materials in support of the PSA. The work will be performed in San Diego, California, and is expected to be completed by October 2024.

House Seapower panel set to add second destroyer to Navy budget

The House Subcommittee on Seapower and Projection Forces today released its proposals for the FY 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

The subcommittee will meet tomorrow for its mark up of the bill and it looks set to follow the Senate Armed Services Committee’s example in passing a version of the FY 2022 NDAA that puts back the second Arleigh Burke class destroyer that the Navy had cut from its request.
